Terms of use

Chapter One is a journal. You write what happened on a given day, and an AI narrator writes it back to you as the next chapter of an ongoing story. It is run by Ivan Galenda, who you can reach at hello@ivanlucagalenda.com.

You must be 16 or over. By making an account you confirm that you are, and that you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice.

You keep every right in what you write and in the photographs and voice notes you attach. We store them so the service works, send a day's words to the AI narrator when you ask for its chapter, and show chapters to anyone holding a reading link you have chosen to open. Nothing else. We do not sell your writing, publish it, or use it to train models.

Please don't:

• upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to upload;
• write about other people in ways that would harass them, or upload their photographs without their agreement;
• try to break, overload, or work around the limits of the service, or use it to generate content at scale.

There is a daily limit on how many chapters can be asked for, to keep the narrator available to everyone.

Chapters are written by an AI model. They are creative retellings, not records: names, details and events may be embellished or wrong. The service is provided as it is, without warranty, and it is not a backup service — keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose. The download on your account page gives you one at any time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

You can delete your account, and everything in it, from your account page at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or stop offering the service — with reasonable notice, and with time to download your writing first.

If these terms change in a way that matters, the version above changes and we will say so in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by English law, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer where you live.
